To make sure you feel prepared to take on any first date I've invited fellow expert Barbara Bloomfield to share her top five first date tips from her new book, The Relate Guide to Finding Love.Author and Relationship Expert Barbara Bloomfield

1. Keep it in perspective
"This is a chance to make a new friend over a  cup of coffee. Don't build the first date up too  much in  your mind - you'll be too nervous to enjoy it!"

2. Be comfortable in what you're wearing
"Depending on the situation try not to overdo the dressing up. If you feel comfortable you can enjoy being fully yourself."

3. When in doubt, go Dutch
"If there's a bill it's good practice to split it. It feels fair and avoids the awkwardness afterwards of one person feeling they have to pay the other something back."

4. Think small talk before big talk
"Asking questions and showing your interest will help you relax. Not only will you have a much more satisfying date but you're more likely to feel you've really connected."

The Relate Guide To Finding Love5. To Kiss or not to kiss?
"The build up of desire is all part of the fun. A kiss on the cheek at the end of the date will tantalise and intrigue.Without wishing to sound like a killjoy, I would suggest holding back on anything else if you want the relationship to last."
