Sarah's advice: keep your profile fresh
It's a rare creature who actively enjoys change but, in the world of online dating, it's important that you're prepared to tweak and finesse your profile on a regular basis. I sometimes hear from MSFers who feel they aren't doing quite as well as they'd like on the site and my initital piece of advice is always the same: give your profile an MOT.
Description
The genius of mysinglefriend.com is that a friend writes about you and describes you with an objective eye, something you could never do for yourself, and you should be eternally grateful to your lovely friend for taking the time to do so. However, if you've been on the site for a while and aren't getting much action in your inbox, it might be worth casting your eye over the description again. Is it too long or too short? Is it giving away too little, or does your friend have such a dry wit that those comments about your obsession with Prince William is being taken seriously? If you'd like to make changes to your description just drop us a line and we can help you out.
Response
I've talked about writing a good response previously, but let's have a quick reminder: write something, but not reams of potentially boring information; tell us some interesting things about you, instead of just thanking your friend and be as original as you can. Change your response from time to time, it's very easy: just log in to your homepage and away you go. Try different things, tell a joke or refer to something that has recently happened so that potential dates know you're actively engaged in the site and not just hanging around hoping something will happen.
Pictures
Pictures are probably the most important change you can make. A new picture on a slightly tired profile can, and does, work wonders. Take an objective look at your pics, or, even better, get a friend to look with you. Looking at photos of yourself is a tricky business as you'll never see yourself as the world sees you, because you'll always be on the inside. Ask your loyal and true friend which pictures you look best in and trust what they say, even if it's a pic that you don't much like. Change your pictures around often, try a new primary photo every couple of weeks; a different pic will catch the eye of someone who had previously passed your profile by.
