Success story: Bruno and Magda

We're enjoying this beautiful autumnal day and are looking forward to the weekend. We hope all of our MSFers have got a lot of dating on the cards for the next couple of days, and we're easing you into the best part of the week with another mysinglefriend.com success story. Bruno and Magda met through MSF back in 2010 and got married in Warsaw in May.

"We were both quite open to online dating and neither of us thought there was any 'stigma' attached to it," Magda told us. "I had attended two weddings of friends who had met their wives online, and Bruno thought it was a logical way of meeting someone. We have both recommended it to our single friends - it's so difficult to meet people to date otherwise!

Our first date was lunch at Cecconis, my favourite London restaurant. It was very relaxed, and we chatted for a couple of hours, but we left without making any firm commitment for a follow up date even though I wanted to! That evening I was speaking to a good friend of mine who told me off about this and insisted that I should let Bruno know that I would like to see him again before I left for an upcoming trip to New York. I texted him and he called me five minutes later and invited me to the opera that same week.

I knew right away that I had met someone that I could see myself with in a serious relationship. All my friends told me to slow down but I just had this feeling. Bruno on the other hand had some reservations because I was a fan of Hillary Clinton! We shared the same background of being Europeans raised in Canada before coming to London, we both worked in the same industry, had similar interests and in fact even had a friend in common. We yelled at him afterwards for never setting us up. Our personalities are different but complementary.

We were married in Warsaw over the May bank holiday weekend with 80 guests attending from all over the world. On the Friday evening we had a welcome party hosted by my parents at a lovely restaurant with an outdoor terrace. The weather unfortunately didn't co-operate that evening but thankfully the terrace was covered so we could sit outside. We arranged for a show of traditional Polish dancing and singing, and at the end lots of friends joined in to dance the Polonaise. The wedding itself took place in a beautiful restored building on Saturday evening - it was almost like a covered courtyard. I had baby's breath and candles everywhere, and we had a professional string quartet performing our favourite songs (our recessional was Living on a Prayer by Bon Jovi). For the cocktail reception we had a klezmer band as entertainment. The dinner was at the restaurant in the same building. It's my favourite restarurant in Warsaw and is incredibly pretty and quirkily Polish. I can't even describe it as it’s so unique! We had over 200 candles and mounds of flowers, and following the speeches and chocolate cake, dancing to a live band.

We then spent a week in Rome and Porto Ercole recovering, but our "real" honeymoon was two weeks in Zambia and on Lake Malawi.

Thank you MSF for helping to make it happen."

Many congrats to Magda and Bruno from all of us here at mysinglefriend.com!
