Advice: Dos and Don'ts Vol. 4

A bottle of wine and a DVD

You're unique, fun, funny and just a little bit fabulous aren't you? Yes! And I'm pretty sure you'll want to portray that when writing your own profile response.

It's not easy to be original and witty on the spot. However, there is one word of advice I can give you, and that's to actively avoid certain sentences.

I feel I must advise you that certain generic sentences don't add anything to a profile, in fact they can detract from an otherwise good profile.

The best thing for me to do is to simply give you a list of the sort of sentences I'm talking about (and don't go thinking that a slight variation of the phrase will do, it won't!):

- "I like going out and I like staying in."
You are either in or out, surely?

- "Well, what can I say"
Please, just say it.

- "The cheque's in the post!"
But it isn't, is it.

- "I'm happy on the sofa with a DVD and a bottle of wine."
Tell us some other things you like doing. Breathing?

I really want to help all of you have the best experience possible, so it's time to leave these clichéd sayings behind. Saying something original and fun will really improve your chances and prompt more MSFers to contact you.

Our team tend to remove these sentence from descriptions, to help you stand out. Please take a look at your profile response and delete such sentences today!
