Christmas: Modern Or Traditional?

Are these new Christmas mainstays obscuring what was once a nobler, more festive occassion? Our friends at Stylist magazine have a hunch that we're all hankering for a return to a more traditional, Victorian-style Christmas.

It was during Queen Victoria's reign that Christmas became popularised as a holiday, and the introduction of gift giving, Father Christmas, card sending, the Christmas tree and carol singing gave the period it's unique festive personality. Ho ho ho!
