A picture is worth a thousand words

Sam Van Rood

Hey there MSFers. I think you would all agree that we like to take a look at our potential dates. A customer recently wrote to me:

"I have just joined MSF and am really loving it. The only problem is that 2 people who have added me to their favourites don't have a picture up! They sound great but there's no way I'm responding without seeing what they look like. If you send someone a message or add them to your favourites without a profile pic it's unlikely they will get a response."

I wholeheartedly agree.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but in the online dating game I reckon it's worth a lot more. Your photos are the bait to get a potential date to read your profile and then hopefully reply to your first email.

You don't have to look like a supermodel (in fact it's better that you don't - people get a little suspicious of model type shots and wonder if you'll live up to the pic in real life). A sunny, smiley, head and shoulder shot works wonders. We want to clearly see your face (no one's going to want to date you if they aren't sure what you look like) and a smile always helps (no one's going to want to date you if you look like a grump).

Great pictures:

Happy Shevi        Smiley Shevi        Vivacious Shevi

                     Happy                                     Smiley                                 Vivacious

Not so great pictures:

Blurry Shevi        Distant Shevi        Grumpy Shevi

Blurry                                   Far away                              A bit grumpy

And let's not forget secondary pictures. They are your chance to express yourself. Make them fun and interesting and they'll provide a talking point as well as revealing a bit more about you.

What are your top tips? Had any experiences you would like to share? Agree or disagree?

Please feel free to submit your dating queries and quibbles to Sam here.
