It's often said that people resemble their pets, but does that old adage stand up to scrutiny? We picked a cross-section of pet-loving singles to try and find out.    

           Ben and cat: penetrating gazes                        Hannah and dog: soulful stares

    Jill and kitten: wide-eyed and enquiring                      Thomas and dog: sleepy

                               
          Emily and dog: both a bit fierce?                          Simon and chicken: Um...no.
