Success story: Ali and Jack
It's all looking a little quieter this weekend as Wimbledon has been and gone (so close, Andy! And yet, so far...) and we could probably all do with a bit of breather from all this jubilation and sporting fervour before the terrible chaos glorious excitement of the Olympics begins. One thing that is guaranteed over the next couple of days is large quantities of water falling from the sky, but, to be honest, it's been raining for so long now, we're past caring. We're so used to it we've stopped noticing it, a bit like a picture that's been hanging in the same place for years, or when Ant and Dec come on the telly. We're easing you into the weekend in classic mysinglefriend.com style with a success story - and what a story it is. Let us introduce you to Ali and Jack. Ali dropped us an email to let us know how it all began...
"Four years ago, on Valentine's Day 2008 to be exact, I joined your site and found Jack. He looked and sounded perfect for me, so I got my nerves together and made contact with him. Even though I hadn't uploaded pictures (big risk), Jack replied a few days later. We emailed and spoke to each other loads until March, when we finally met. From there we dated, had a blast, so much fun and laughter until June when I split up with Jack...
It's far too complex to go into the ins and outs of why this happened but suffice to say emotionally we were in different places. We never talked about any of this, it just went from laughing and having a brilliant time together to me saying, sorry, it's not going to work. After this we shared a couple of emails and that was it, I went off and had a shotgun wedding (because I thought that's what I wanted) and Jack dated lots. Subsequently my marriage broke down and Jack's dates just fell through.
The key thing is, neither of us stopped thinking about each other - it had crossed my mind several times to contact Jack but I was married and it didn't seem right. But I split up with my ex in May 2011 and Jack began to cross my mind more and more. Eventually I thought f*** it, what's the worse that can happen? I sent an email to Jack, which was some rambling rubbish asking if he remembered me and lots of small untruths about why I hadn't been in touch for a while (lost your number, etc, etc.). What seemed like hours later, and having refreshed my Blackberry a million times, I got a reply saying he remembered me. We talked for weeks and weeks and finally arranged to meet.
Well, to cut a long story short, Jack's message to me the day after we met again in October 2011 was 'I'm going to marry you', and today we are so, so, so in love, live together and laugh every day. I've never felt this way about someone before ever; he rocks my world (and me his) and our relationship really is some kind of wonderful. We've been looking at engagement rings and hope to get married in Gretna by the end of the year. Thank you MSF - the £20 membership fee was totally the best money I've ever spent (with the exception of the £30 I paid for my cat Ray). I'm the happiest I've ever been, and Jack is too."
Many congrats to Ali and Jack (and Ray!) from all at MSF! Click to view more mysinglefriend.com success stories.
