My Mum was Irish and my Dad Scottish. I was born and educated in Edinburgh, and raised in Edinburgh, Dublin and Co. Wicklow.
I returned to Edinburgh after living and working in Berkshire for 29 years. I'm British first, Scots/Irish second. But, I've been described as an Irishman with an Edinburgh accent.
Whilst I don't mind being single, life's much better when shared.
I'm pretty straightforward and down-to-earth. I say what I mean and mean what I say. I'm a good listener, but don't suffer fools gladly. I treat others as I expect to be treated. I'm not into silence/mind games, love/hate or on/off relationships.
Anybody with an agenda is not for me. So, no interviews, assessments, terms & conditions, financial or physical health checks etc. I'm not looking for employment. And, I'm a person not a product. I'm on the human lifecycle.
I don't have a bucket list. I've been lots of places, done lots of things, met lots of interesting and famous people, eaten lots of great food and owned or driven lots of fast cars.
As I said to the pretty girls who admired my expensive cars, do you want me, my car or my money? The car belongs to my company, my salary doesn't match the car, so that just leaves me - still interested?
Life's been tough and sometimes very rough. I now prefer to lead a very private, peaceful, quiet and uncomplicated life. I dislike crowds and crowded places. I don't miss life in the limelight or 'fast lane'.
I miss my regular trips to Ireland and having a beach to myself in the Western Algarve.
If only modern dating wasn't so complicated, and less like a reality show. Be kind, not mean. Passive aggressive isn't kind. Just say no thank you.
