About him
Hi,
Can't really say much more after Chris' write-up! I took early retirement at 57 and am keeping myself extremely well-occupied, not least with several foreign tours a year - the occasional walking tour and battlefield trip, but mostly other exciting and historic places (such as the Falklands, Burma, and New Zealand - absolutely awesome!), plus some voluntary work and community activities. Life is busy, but would be SO much nicer to be busy with a lovely lady friend, if not that wonderful but elusive 'lady of my dreams' for whom I am also the 'man of her dreams'.
I have many other interests - not least photography, running my Classic Car, and history. Classical music has been a lifelong enjoyment, but some of the more modern 'popular' up to the '70s is also appreciated. Love dogs, having had them around me for most of my life (they probably make more dependable and constant companions than most of the women on these Sites…).
Just really looking for a fabulous lady to spend time with as friends, and share our lives together if things worked out in that direction… if such person exists. Having spent far too many years with Online Dating I have come to the conclusion that most women on these Sites are only 'window shopping', or looking for their 'designer man'. Of the very few who seem to have some 'depth' to them - and commonality of at least a few interests - most do not even have the courtesy to respond with even a one-liner 'thanks but no thanks' let alone interested in getting to know me.

This is really a very open question. One can have a view of their 'perfect person' but they probably don't exist, and if you lock yourself into such parameters you will never find anyone (like most of the women on these Sites, as most all of them are still here years down the line).
Am really looking for someone who has some 'depth' and a reasonable level of intelligence, and some 'interests in common'. And who has - or is happy with - at least some similar aims in life, and none of these you can really discern from Sites such as this without meeting. Oh, and who we each 'click' with. Too many people 'write off' potential matches without even meeting because they do not fit their narrow 'designer person' profile.

Having known Kevin for many years, I am continually amazed at the strings he continues to add to his Life's Bow. Classic cars (a passion we share), historic planes and vehicles, militaria, steam, photography, IT, engineering, self-sufficiency, walking, dogs ... the list continues. It means that whatever your own interests, he is very likely to be able to talk intelligently about them. If not, he will be interested to learn more from you.
His enquiring mind makes him easy both to talk to and with, which is an important element of any relationship. He is very independent (and domesticated) and rarely seeks help. However, once he asked me to find him a holiday venue in my locale. This I did freely and quickly. His gratitude though lasted for a long, long time. Even now, if I need any parts machined for my Triumph Stag, Kevin's personal Engineering Workshop soon whirrs into action.
Does he have weaknesses? Of course, as do we all. Sometimes he can be a little blunt. Often because he is fact-finding to learn more about you or your topic. Recognise it is simply his factual focus and not intended to be curt. The benefit is you always know where you are with Kevin, also due to his extreme honesty. He can be a little shy initially, bear with him, encourage him out of his shell and you will soon find him chatting animatedly. Be prepared for him to need to understand a topic fully before deciding on a course of action. He is far from reckless but could balance someone that considers themselves to be so, extremely well.
I have aimed to give a 'warts 'n' all' overview of this open, pleasant, likeable man. Will you get on well with Kevin? I believe it is likely but unless you take the next step you will never know. Remember that strangers are just friends we have not yet met! Give Kevin a chance to impress you and it could prove a lifelong benefit.
