In Her Own Words

About her

*Breaking news* *Roll up, roll up* *Going, going, gone*

I'm departing the MSF shores in 10 days. Not for online dating pastures new, but for an online dating sabbatical, having spent enough time looking at my phone and scrolling up and down (not left and right).

So I thought I'd refresh this intro with what I've learned in the past month - one month in online dating is a loooong time at times ..... And with every date / message I've learned something new. Haven't you?

I still prefer meeting for a glass of red in a dimly lit bar instead of a coffee date. But I'm definitely not the partyer (is that a word?) I was 5 years ago and it doesn't mean that I'm an alcoholic. Alcoholics please do not apply. [Cue self analysis as to whether or not one is in fact an alcoholic ...... ]. There have been a few .....

Still, online dating can feel clinical enough without a business meeting in the most convenient Cafe Nero. I hereby invite you to sweep me off my feet with a glass of wine and a dollop of good conversation/chat/banter. It's a rare delight. I promise to give you my best sweep too.

What else? Messaging. Or as I like to call it, Great Expectations. Have you messaged someone and built up a rapport, created an image, imbued that person typing away and popping into your inbox with the characteristics you most want to see? I have. I think that the anti climax felt upon meeting is directly proportionate to the time spent messaging. Have you had someone message you, sound interested/suggest you meet up and then fall off the face of the earth? Where do those people go? And why? It's as confusing as odd socks. A few messages to weigh up whether you're in danger of meeting an axe murderer (or worse, someone who isn't what they say in their profile) is good. A novel in which we create the characters is not so much, fun as it may be at the time.

Now let's see what the next 10 days hold.....

What Her Friends Say

sarah said...

Eva has been my best friend since 1993 when we met in the first year at Queens University, Belfast. So, what is Eva like - well, as you can see from the photos, she is beautiful and she is also funny, fun, smart, intelligent, generous, focused more on life than work and an amazing friend and family person.

Things you need to know to see if you connect with Eva:
- she loves dogs and babies to a ridiculous extent
- she is bursting with love - literally bursting
- she is steely and willing to stand up for what is right but forgiving and wise
- if she is into you then my goodness you are going to get looked after
- she is a lawyer - but the fun kind and aspiring to retirement
- she likes (in no particular order) yoga, good food, wine (not beer), running, spas (with me), music, walking, books, interior design, Donegal, dancing, taking care of herself, family, friends (especially me), London, Yorkshire, lots of Asia, working hard and skiving off
- after 20 years I am still finding out things about her and I still spend most of my time with her laughing.

After 10 years in London, I would like her to meet a kind, generous man who gets what a relationship is all about and wants the same things. Don't apply if you want a wall flower, don't want kids, and have to be asked 70 times to do chores....
I think her future holds a family, a big old house to do up, dogs and a kind lovely man (and me...)
