Why am I here, and why might you want to meet me? Well, because it might be fun! Because I might be the one! Because I will definitely buy the first coffee (or drink!)
I would say an honest, genuine, thoughtful person, with a sense of humour, ready to try most things.
I love the sea and being by water - I know the Suffolk coast and the Isle of Wight quite well, and have sailed although not for a few years. In the absence of the sea in Hertfordshire I live in a flat overlooking the Grand Union Canal ...
I am reasonably active - enjoy cycling and did the Coast to Coast ride a few years ago. I also enjoy walking in the Chilterns. But I also enjoy watching TV, going out pubs, restaurants etc. Bit of a Radio 4 addict, interested in current affairs and what is going on in the world.
I am interested in architecture and like to visit new places. Reasonably well travelled but a lot more still to do and love exploring different parts the UK as well.
I like to use my time well - I was a Games maker at the 2012 Olympics (brilliant!) and do some other volunteer things as well.
So quite a busy person, but missing that one person to make life really complete ...
And who do I want to meet? Well, if I knew that I probably wouldn't be here. Someone with a sense of humour (although it might be quite fun to meet someone who claims they haven't?) But I do think you have to meet face to face so if you would like that coffee let me know ...

Martin? Single? But he is such a lovely, generous, friendly and easy to get on with person! That's the reaction I've been getting from all of our friends and acquaintances since we found out Martin was single again, after a long and serious relationship. And of course we immediately started plotting who we could set him up with - someone with a brain, someone interesting and interested in doing things, someone with an easy smile who would appreciate Martin and make him happy!
I've known Martin for 15 years. I would describe him as 'English' in the best possible way - and I don't just mean his fair-haired good looks! He has that understated way of making great achievements sound like no big deal, and a wry, intelligent, sense of humour. He is clever and open minded, thoughtful and interested in the world. And very easy to talk to. I have always admired how at ease he is with himself - what you might call quietly confident. I've had breakfast with him in the poshest restaurants and pints in the roughest London pubs, and he never seems to feel out of place.
Martin is the kind of man you could happily spend many long mornings chatting, reading the morning paper and having coffee with. Or long evenings - though probably with more food / drink and less morning paper! And when I said he is English, in no way did I mean dull. Martin does things. He has sailed down the Nile, cycled across hilly parts of Britain (though with well-planned stops en route) and every so often he jets off to meet up with international friends in far flung locations. The latest adventure was a road-trip in Canada with his (very sweet) daughter. Having said that, I think Martin also quite likes a quiet night in - though he claims he only watched 'Strictly' because his daughter made him!
Oh, and I should mention his friends are very nice too (though I would say that!)!
