About him
I've never really known what to write on these sort of things since whenever I've actually tried to do it, I've found the venn diagram of the list of true statements about me and the list of statements that are likely to be seen in a positive light look somewhat like the Mysterons. Well, apart from the really obvious ones (like "awareness of soap" or the like). I'm assured that they are there, I just can't seem to find a gap between the "inaccurate", "shameful narciccism" and "hopelessly pathetic" traps when I try to write about myself. Here goes then...
Since my life story won't fit here (and wouldn't be useful if it did), I'll just put some bullet points:
* I'm an Aeronautical Engineering graduate and maintain an aircraft factory for a living.
* I'm a dinghy sailing instructor and have done some yachting. I'm thinking about doing my Day Skipper qualificaiton sometime soon so I can hire a yacht out on holiday.
* While I'm no great chef, I can cook; I wouldn't say I love cooking but I do like eating nice food and since I live on my own, it's that or nothing. It would be nice to have someone to cook for occasionally though.
Well, apparently I'm supposed to sign off in a funny way, but I can't think of anything. Damn those self-help articles! They tell you this much and stop, like they want you to know WHY you failed.

I'm looking for a ... well I'm not completely certain. It would be somewhat cliché to say that I'm looking for someone special, but it's true. I'm just not sure what that special someone needs to have, apart from the ability to put up with me (although I hope that that would go without saying).

As Richard's younger brother, I can say that I've known him all my life, and that he is one of the most caring and unpresuming people I know. He takes people at face value, is very kind hearted and genuine.
He volunteers in the local community, both as a scout leader, and at a sailing club, where he is also a sailing instructor, so be prepared to be at the very least knee deep in water at some point!
He works as an engineer, building commercial aeroplanes, and with his cheeky grin can have you fully informed about the lighter side of quantum physics!
His interests include a passion for Formula 1, photography, gardening, and he's in the planning stage of remodelling his house. He's a good cook, and has a good (some may say unique!) sense of humour!
As a brother, he is a very loyal person and he's the kind of guy who is prepared to help out and do anything for you, no questions asked (As he proved when I was getting married last year).
If you're looking for someone to help out on a pub quiz team, then Richard is your man. His memory is phenomenal, especially for trivia, and facts that you thought you used to know, but have somehow forgotten over time.
In terms of dates, he's looking for someone who wants to do something other than the "standard" nights out, and in terms of personality, someone who he can have a laugh with, and is prepared to put up with a bit of competition, especially when it comes to board games (or a trivia quiz!!!)
A Formula 1 supporter would be a plus (Although from my point of view, we would have to discuss teams!)
He's looking for someone who wants to do some travelling, and drag him to see some more of the world! Maybe someone who is interested in sailing, wants to be, or is prepared to sit on the boat in the sunshine while someone else does all the work!!!
