Before I even knew Katie I thought to myself: 'I really want to be friends with her, she looks lovely.' Turns out... She is.
She is one of my favourite people to be with. You can guarantee that the evening will contain at least one, if not all, of the following: cocktails invented by herself, an incredible soundtrack, robotic dancing, homemade biscuits (without raisins), recommendations of amazing books/films/tv shows and a roaring fire.
Katie is half-American and not only that was born on the 4th of July. This means she calls pavements sidewalks and trousers pants. Not really, the only thing she says funny is 'banana', which she rhymes with bandana, as in Bruce Springsteen's. It's lovable.
Katie is outdoorsy. Running shoes are usually drying on the radiator. A surfboard is propped up by the front door. Bikes are in the shed. She loves the sea particularly. She can be found at the beach at night, looking at the stars. How cheap a date is that? But before you think: oh, she's sporty, and feel intimidated, stop right now; Katie is genuinely the opposite of intimidating. Unless you leave the little envelope in the box of After Eights after you've taken the chocolate mint, then she's fearsome.
Being with Katie is like being bathed in a warm glow. Suddenly everything is right with the world.
