About her
I am fun-loving, outgoing, happy in good company at a gig, classical concert, the theatre (I review plays as a critic) or playing tennis. I like creative writing, walking and pubs with big open fires. I could take you for lots of walks on the Downs. As a friend I am loyal and compassionate, a good listener and non-judgemental.
Jane Gilbert remains my favorite singer songwriter - she's Scottish so she must be fab! Also London Grammar, Joni Mitchell, Saint Saviour, the Staves, other emerging artists. Recently saw Weyes Blood and Courtney Marie Andrews.
I like period dramas, Sanditon and Belle on iplayer about the slave trade. Made in Dagenham is good fun. I like true stories. Call the Midwife always although I don't have or want kids. I preferred the last Downton Abbey film to the recent one. The end of an era. I enjoyed Press a few years ago. Philomena. Christopher Robin recurs on TV, really fun. I nurture my inner child :) I saw Tolkien on a plane - no idea the science fiction was based on World War 1 but then I did read it under duress at the age of 10. I'm not a science fiction fan. I like arts films - small budget, independent, sometimes foreign.
Profession: Journalist and copywriter. I tend to write about marginalised communities because I want to give a voice to the voiceless, people who are overlooked and disenfranchised for one reason or another. I have just been published in a broadsheet and am hoping this becomes the norm. I did my best work during lockdown, prioritised family and daily exercise but as a quiet extrovert, it's very nice to see people again and work out the 'new normal.'
Since lockdown I have taken up tennis and am really loving it so if you fancy knocking a ball about, give me a shout.
About her ideal match
I don't have an ideal type or look. I like individuals, men who know who they are and have nothing to prove. I like to laugh but also to put the world to rights. I'm probably better with teenagers than young children because I am the youngest and my sister doesn't have kids.
I look forward to meals in and out, someone who can conjure up romance, someone I want to spend time chilling with, cooking as well as gigs and theatre. Good conversation and intelligence matter, laughter, that elusive connection. Being of a left-wing or liberal persuasion helps. Trust is the bedrock of any enduring relationship.
