In Her Own Words

About her

I like to keep busy and have a wide variety of interests. I love learning new things, meeting new people and trying new experiences. My job involves quite a bit of travel and, often, irregular working hours so my life can be pretty hectic at times but I work hard to make time for family and friends.

I love films - and I have a broad taste (although I'm particularly fond of most things 80s, 70s sci-fi and 30s/40s melodrama). I'm a self-confessed geek and a *teeny bit* of a Trekkie, although I am yet to feel compelled to learn Klingon :)

I'm an avid reader - I will read pretty much anything! My two favourite all-time books are 'Wuthering Heights' and 'Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'. As well as Emily Bronte and Douglas Adams, authors I enjoy include John Steinbeck, Maya Angelou, George Eliot, Daphne du Maurier, Neil Gaiman and John Wyndham.

I am at my happiest when I am playing the hostess and love cooking for and entertaining friends. That said, I'm also pretty happy to eat out - whether it be cheap and cheerful food or slightly fancier dining, especially if the meal is washed down with a glass (or two) of nice red wine.

I like to think of myself as cultured - although, if I'm honest, I'm blagging most of the time... I'm quite partial to the theatre, live comedy, live music and the odd art gallery. I enjoy travelling - both abroad and in the UK - and, whilst sitting on a beach can be fun, I love to do as much sightseeing as possible.

As far as physical activity goes, I'm definitely not what you would call sporty! That said, I enjoy a game of rounders or badminton with my youth group, have recently taken up container gardening and, if I had all the time in the world and a sunny day, I could quite happily walk forever.

I'm passionate about human rights, volunteering and being a good neighbour - I don't believe you have a right to criticise the world we live in if you're not doing something (however small) to improve it!

What Her Friends Say

Jen said...

Where to start with Lynne? Overall she is just a genuinely lovely person. She is a fiercely loyal friend who is always there when needed and is very useful to have fighting in your corner! She is a really happy, smiley woman who is very funny and always laughing. A proper Northerner (she would have you know that she is a Lancastrian, with a bit of Yorkshire in there!), she can be quite forthright - in a good way - and very sociable. She is quite an independent woman and likes the finer things in life - good food (she's a brilliant cook but enjoys eating out too), nice wine, pretty handbags - but is also very outdoorsy and isn't precious about getting mucky while on a nine-mile hike across the moors or crossing a muddy 'stream' in the Lake District! People-orientated, she has a big circle of friends and is Auntie Lynnie to a huge number of friends' kids and is so very generous with them. An avid traveller, she loves exploring the road less travelled but is also very fond of cocktails on the beach in a holiday resort. She is highly intelligent, loves reading and follows politics & current affairs, and some of our best conversations have been putting the world to rights over drinks into the small hours. A typical red-head, she can sometimes be a bit feisty in her opinions but that's why all her friends love her! In summary, Lynne is quite simply awesome and anyone reading this would be lucky to spend time with her!!
