About him
Hello. I'm David and I'm hoping to meet someone like-minded to share the good (and bad) times with and make life a bit more meaningful. I would say I am kind, considerate and believe in good manners. I also try and keep fit by running (not obsessively though) and I walk rather than drive whenever possible. The idea of a beer gut is too awful to contemplate.
I don't need looking after, not in a practical sense at least. I quite like loading the dishwasher my way these days though maybe, like Theresa and Philip, we can agree on the girl jobs and the boy jobs. I like cooking (one practical thing I'm reasonably good at) so if you're quite happy to never stand in front of a stove again I'm your man.
I have an economics degree for Cambridge and worked in financial markets research until recently, though don't let that put you off. I'm pretty down to earth and would rather be watching a stupid film like Ron Burgundy rather than sitting around sounding like Stephen Fry. But don't worry. Our first date won't be at Wetherspoon's (unless you insist of course).
I lived and worked in London until a couple of years ago so quite like the occasional foray back up to town for a play or dinner or whatever. My guilty pleasure is tribute bands (as good as the real thing if you suspend disbelief). If you are a closet hippy (out in the open is fine too) and like the music of the '70s then that would be a bonus.
I'm not an obsessive traveller though I'd like to explore some more of the nooks and crannies of Britain. Also, I speak a bit of French so I also like popping over the Channel now and then to a lovely little town not many people know about. Apart from that I'm open to suggestions.
Nobody really wants to be online and it can feel like hard work. But we are all in the same boat. And the flip side is you can be gobsmacked by someone you may never have crossed paths with otherwise , even if they are not always just around the corner. Could be you. Maybe even me.
About his ideal match
I don't really have a type and I don't have a lengthy tick list of things I'm looking for. Straightforward (ever the optimist), tactile (I hope you like holding hands) and thoughtful would be nice. No point in making things too complicated. I'm a firm believer in love at first sight. Someone who's active and likes to keep in shape with a wide variety of musical tastes (maybe not opera !) would be ideal.

I first met David about a year ago. My Mum pimped me to him when we bumped into each other on a dog walk - I was new to the area and keen to meet like-minded people. If she wasn't worried about him being a serial killer then why should I be? We hit it off immediately and David has shown me some excellent walks and pubs. We have become firm friends.
He is extremely bright and has a sharp and wicked sense of humour. He is always kind and helpful, even coming to stay at our house when I couldn't find anyone to look after my puppy. He has been a great support since I was made redundant recently - taking me out to lunch to cheer me up etc and doing all the things a mate should do when you're feeling bad.
He dresses well but not in an over-attentive and irritating way like some men do, and he always smells gorgeous. He runs and keeps himself fit - he doesn't look his age - but he loves his food and cooks like a MasterChef contestant (although he might say Little Chef). Hmmm - that description makes him sound a bit 'metrosexual' when he's actually quite down-to-earth, in that Northern sort of way. But if you are looking for one of those loud alpha-male types stop reading now.
Whatever happens regarding romance, I can guarantee that you'll have a good time and a laugh if you go out with David. So what have you got to lose ? He might even let you call him Dave sometimes
