About him
When I signed up to a dating website, a friend suggested that I should knock at least five years off my stated age, assuring me that no-one would ever know. The fact is, I would have known - so I didn't do it. My age is as stated.
I am a widower. I'm not looking for a 24/7 arrangement but an enduring and close relationship. Ideally I would like to meet a woman of roughly the same age as me, who lives within an hour and a half travelling time from Ashbourne, Derbyshire
I worked in adult education but took early retirement more than 20 years ago.
I watch TV very little: no soaps, mainly films, comedy, sport and news. I enjoy dining out in good pubs and restaurants (but NOT alone). I enjoy cooking but I'm a novice! If I cooked a meal for you, it would probably be a disaster - but we could laugh about it. When possible, I enjoy theatre and cinema. I have a Master's degree in Literature. My main hobby is photography (for national & international exhibitions). That gets me out quite a lot but I also do indoor portraiture and still life. I like making things from wood. I have a nice garden which I enjoy - but I'm no gardener.

I find this one extremely difficult to answer. I don't want to be prescriptive. Looks are important, of course. So is body shape but there is so much more involved in finding someone you find to be attractive and interesting. Some people talk about 'chemistry' or 'a spark': I'm not sure what that means in practice but perhaps we recognise it when it happens.
