What can I say about Tony?
I've known him for about 17 years all told and I've valued that friendship for all of that time.
So, what's he like? Well, he's self-effacing and self-assured simultaneously, which is quite a feat. Mind you, he combines being highly methodical with being very spontaneous very well so...
Unusually for a chap, he is an authentically attentive listener who hasn't had to practice that particular skill. I suspect it comes from his interest in people and their worlds. Tony is not the moody, silent type but neither is he prone to talking before he's thought about what he's going to say or why he's saying it.
Self-confident and of a generally happy disposition, Tony is self-organised and self-motivated, which might explain why he's been happy running his own business for the last 8 years. The life of the artisan suits him as he's allowed to give his creativity free reign.
Tony is a physically active person, who likes nothing better than to linger over a freshly brewed pot of tea, so in some ways a paradox. Few people have a deeper knowledge of where the best spots for a picnic in East Anglia, or where to get the best cuppa. He's found them all on his bike rides, being a keen cyclist.
Tony's youthful looks have caused comment, but we don't know if he's made some pact with the devil or if he's got a portrait in the attic!
He's a hands-on kind of guy and his culinary imagination is only matched by what's in his fridge at any time. His banana curry is phenomenal and his Sunday morning extravaganzas are a thing of legend. When he's not in the kitchen, you might also find him down a hole digging up the past - at an archaeological site!
He's cultured without being overly cultivated and knowledgeable without being arrogant about it.
Other characteristics that I feel are valuable and valued by Tony include positivity, initiative, compassion and commitment and loyalty.
Did I say he speaks fluent Spanish?
