How many men do you know who are handsome, funny, love loud music, have a great social life, and still remember to send a birthday card to their elderly aunties? Not that many I'll bet, because Tom is a rare beast indeed.
The main thing about Tom is he's an incredibly nice person. I like to think that when it comes to our personalities (I'm his sister) we're a bit like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito in "Twins". He got all the kind, polite, thoughtful qualities and I got whatever rubbish was left over...
Don't be fooled into thinking he's a bit of a nice-but-dim type though. He's as sharp as a tack, and has got the stack of qualifications to prove it. Despite this sensible side, he has a well-honed sense of humour, and comes from a family where no-one is allowed to take themselves too seriously (sorry).
Things Tom really loves: films (the Blues Brothers is his favourite), live rock music and - to balance that out - folk music, a good cup of tea or three, science geekery, reading, drama (the good put-on-a-play kind, not the bad EastEnders-style-fight-in-the-street kind), and chilling out in the pub with his friends.
Tom likes to run around the beautiful Oxford parks in order to counterbalance his sandwich habit, but thankfully he's not the sort of man who'll want to bore you about how many sit-ups he did this morning.
I forgot to mention that he's a total genius for learning languages, so if you fancy a holiday in China, Spain or Sweden but are worried about picking up the vocab in time, never fear - he's already got it sorted.
I think Tom would suit someone just as good-natured and positive as he is, who would perhaps appreciate a bit of Jane Austen level courtesy, but also feels comfortable shoving on some old clothes and going for a ramble in the countryside with lots of chat and laughter thrown in.
