About her
I am happy and fulfilled so a good relationship would be the icing on the cake of my life. I plan to spend the time left taking all those opportunities that life offers and exploring both the world and London with its curious and diverting entertainments.
The past: a smattering of my life so far would include being a current affairs reporter in Hong Kong, a divorce lawyer in London, hitchhiking around New Zealand, campaigning on education, volunteering for a major charity and running my own business for 10 years until both Brexit and the pandemic saw it off. And also having had a 25-year relationship with the father of my three just-turned adult children. (We are friendly and have a good platonic connection).
The present: The huge pleasure I get from exploring the world is balanced by a quiet contentment when at home. My eyes are 'greedy' in that I love seeing the new, especially outside the UK and I do seek out new challenges (and new civilisations...) - one reason I have had several versions of my working life.
The future: Now we have been freed once again to travel it's on the top of my to-do list - Namibia and Costa Rica are at the very top. At the beginning of the year I made a decision to get much fitter and more active than in the past so I now am (finally) learning how to swim, learning self-defence, doing yoga most days instead of once a week, and getting some strength in my arms and body. I've never gone to the gym and don't intend to start now!
My passion in life is Improv, which I only discovered a few years ago. I adore it; the neurons firing up when I have to think on my feet, the forcing of my brain to expand its pathways, the unexpected joy of performing for quite a shy person. It’s wonderful, I can’t live without it.
My very different experiences (and years of therapy) have left me able to listen more than I speak, to be less judgemental about myself and others, to accept that I can't and don't know everything and to be kind.

Relationships are really about the unconscious meeting, not the joint list of mutual interest boxes to be ticked. We're all looking for that spark which can't be predicted so even if your idea of heaven is swimming in icy water (my idea of hell, I honestly think my heart would stop), there may still be love and I will be waiting on the shore with a blanket, hot drink and my arms to warm you.
I would like someone who is honest about themselves and self reflective, as I am, and can laugh at me and themselves in good spirit. Who has achieved some wisdom about themselves and life but knows it's an on-going work in progress. Who says yes to the new but also sometimes well let's think this through first before we rush in, and knows when to tell the difference. And doesn't mind commas before ands despite a good education.
